June is known as Pride Month, a colorful time that brings LGBT festivals and marches around the world. In Puerto Vallarta, this celebration is especially important as it has become a popular destination for the gay community, thanks to its beautiful beach and wide range of entertainment in the famous “Romantic Zone.”
The history behind why June is LGBT Pride Month dates back to the mid-20th century in New York, at a bar called Stonewall Inn. At that time, being homosexual was considered a crime, and the police would make arrests of those who frequented the establishment. However, in June 1969, a group of the LGBT community refused to be arrested, thus marking the beginning of protests for equality and sexual freedom.
Pride marches have grown in size and organization over the years, becoming the festivals we know today. In this context, Pinnacle Resorts is proud of its non-discriminatory policy and its privileged location in the Romantic Zone of Puerto Vallarta, close to the best beaches, galleries, bars, and clubs in the city.
