Celebrating Posadas in Puerto Vallarta

May 5, 2023

Last weekend, the Pinnacle group celebrated their posada and we want to share a bit about Christmas celebrations in Mexico.

Our posada at Pinnacle had a more traditional focus on an office party, but with a fun touch and in a glamorous setting. Villa Paraíso was the chosen venue, with a beautiful terrace overlooking the sea that turned out to be the perfect setting for the celebration. Everyone enjoyed food, drinks, games, and gifts, and there were even some dances, some of which could be attributed to the joy of the moment. In Mexico, parties always promise fun.

In addition to our posada at Pinnacle, traditional posadas are held in Puerto Vallarta and throughout Mexico. The word “posada” refers to the story of Mary and Joseph looking for a place to give birth to Baby Jesus. These celebrations are usually community events, where half of the attendees act as innkeepers, staying inside a place, while the rest, outside, carry candles and represent Mary and Joseph. They sing a call and response song until the innkeepers open the doors to start the party.

Both our posada at Pinnacle and the traditional posadas reflect the unique duality of Puerto Vallarta: a city with modern and international sophistication, but that retains its Mexican charm and culture. This combination is one of the reasons why our visitors come back time and time again.

From here, we wish all our readers a holiday season as joyful as ours. Happy holidays!
