The 3 best beaches in Puerto Vallarta

By

What is the best beach in Puerto Vallarta? is one of the most frequent questions travelers ask us when they arrive at the hotel and that’s why in this blog we want to share our top 3 beaches that seem to be taken from a documentary.

The beaches of Puerto Vallarta are famous for their turquoise blue waters, their vibrant beach clubs and their abundant flora and fauna, but this list is dedicated to those hidden treasures of the Mexican Pacific, those little pieces of heaven that not everyone knows but surely will have a very special place in your memory and on your Instagram feed.

LAS GEMELAS

We start with “las gemelas” the Spanish word for “twins”, as you can surely imagine, they are two small beaches very similar to each other, separated by a stone wall and located south of Puerto Vallarta. Its beauty lies in the fine white sand and soft waves of a brilliant and transparent emerald green, perfect for activities such as snorkeling and kayaking.

Recommendation: bring your snacks and supplies such as an umbrella, sunscreen and towels because there are no shops or vendors in the area.

COLOMITOS

Playa_colomitosNext we have Colomitos beach, a true hidden paradise because there are no roads that lead to this beach, it’s hidden between the mountains of the Sierra Madre and to get there you’ll have to enter the jungle as an adventurer.

Did you know that Colomitos is also the smallest beach in Mexico? And it’s not an exaggeration, it’s barely 30 meters long! A small stretch of fine sand with extraordinary beauty and extremely crystalline shallow water.

Only a few know that Colomitos also has a small waterfall, it is not difficult to find it, just take a short walk following the small stream that flows from the mountains. Without a doubt the best place to experience the unspoiled beauty of Bahía de Banderas.

MADAGASCAR

Playa_MadagascarTalking about wonders, here you’ll find a true natural treasure, we are talking about Madagascar beach. This beach is located a few meters from Colomitos, it’s very well known by having fine and smooth sands as well as crystalline waters in blue tones, surrounded by a natural stone barrier, the ideal place to disconnect from the world and feel in a paradisiac island. Like the rest of these hidden paradises, there is no easy access to this Eden, the only way to get there is by sea, renting a water taxi or through a jungle walk in the best Indiana Jones style.

We invite you to discover all the treasures that Puerto Vallarta has, Pinnacle resorts is located just twenty minutes away from the path of the macaw, which is the path that leads to all the beaches mentioned here. Blue Flag Certification is a recognition granted by the European Foundation for Environmental Education to beaches and marinas that meet an established criterion of quality, safety, education, and environmental information. Mexico has been participating in this international system of clean beach evaluations since 2012 under the organization of Pronatura, an environmental organization that strives to conserve marine and other natural ecosystems.

Around the world, there are 49 countries with Blue Flag beaches and Mexico has won 20 certifications, with 8 of those beaches located in Puerto Vallarta. To qualify, beaches are strictly judged under 33 criteria which fall under 4 categories: Environment Education & Information, Water Quality, Environmental Management & Conservation, and Safety & Services.
