THE HISTORY OF BEER IN MEXICO

By

Its common knowledge: in Mexico – you drink beer. Although, what many people don’t know is that Mexico is actually the world leader in beer production, and manages one of the most extensive and sophisticated retail distribution networks in the world to make sure the beer makes it to its destination.

Mexico has been producing fermented alcoholic beverages even before the Europeans arrived. During Aztec times, the Maguey plant was fermented to produce a potent mixture called Pulque which is still consumed in Mexico to this day.

Once the Europeans arrived, Mexico was introduced beer made from grains such as barley and wheat. After Mexico’s Independence, beer production skyrocketed; particularly around the era of prohibition which made the trade of beer and other alcoholic beverages really popular along border towns.

Today, two major corporations manage 90% of beer production in Mexico: Cerveceria Modelo and Cerveceria Cuauhtémoc-Moctezuma. These two groups are responsible for the production of famous beers such as Corona, Pacifico, Modelo, Tecate, Indio, and many more Mexican favorites that you can find right here in Puerto Vallarta’s Romantic Zone.

But don’t forget about the local breweries! Los Muertos Brewing is a few blocks from your Romantic Zone luxury accommodation, and a spot called La Union on the malecon has an incredible selection of Mexican craft beers.

We strongly recommend you get out there and try some of the delicious beer we in Mexico have to offer while you enjoy your luxury accommodation in Puerto Vallarta. There’s nothing like enjoying an ice-cold beer while spending some much needed vacation time in the sunshine.

TOP 5 COLD DRINKS TO ENJOY ON THE BEACH THIS SUMMER

By

Everyone knows that one of the best companions to a fun day in the sun at the beach is the perfect cold drink in hand. Get ready to dig your toes into the sand and lather on that tanning oil because we’ve come up with the perfect list of 5 of our favorite drinks (other than a margarita) to try on the beach this summer while enjoying your Romantic Zone accommodation:

1. Sangria: Sangria is a delicious, never-fails kind of drink that is perfect for a day in the sun. Light enough to have more than just one, and perfect for Puerto Vallarta because you can add essentially any type of fruit you’d like to create all kinds of different flavors. Use red or white wine, some orange juice, something fizzy, and whatever else you can find! It’s almost impossible to go wrong.

2. Michelada: Finding a michelada in the Romantic Zone is probably one of the easiest things to do. Actually, you might end up finding yourself trying to find the BEST one of all. Everyone has a different recipe for this drink made up primarily of an ice cold beer, clamato juice, freshly squeezed lime, and a mixture of different sauces and salsas. How spicy can you go?

3. Cucumber Gin and Tonic: Looking for something a little more refreshing? Why not try a muddled cucumber gin and tonic? Careful, these guys tend to creep up on you.

4. Sex on the Beach:Appropriate for more reasons than just its name, this cranberry-peach fruity deliciousness is perfect for the beach. Usually served on the rocks, but try it frozen for an extra icy cool-down!

5. Paloma:Also a very popular beverage here in Puerto Vallarta is the Paloma. One of the reasons for its popularity is its utmost simplicity. Tequila with grapefruit soda and a wedge of lime, and voila! you’ve got yourself a Paloma. Try it with soda water for a less sugary option.

Of course Mexico is famous as the birthplace of the Margarita, but did you know that there is another Tequila based cocktail that is perhaps not as famous, but equally delicious?  Let Resorts by Pinnacle, the only luxury accommodations in the Romantic Zone of Puerto Vallarta, introduce you to the Paloma.

The Paloma is tart with just a touch of sweetness, totally refreshing and easy to mix, making it the ideal cocktail to whip up in the full kitchen of your luxury suite and enjoy with the incredible view of a Puerto Vallarta sunset from your private terrace.  Here’s our favorite Paloma recipe:
