Real Mexican Cuisine: Chiles en Nogada

By

If you are lucky enough to be visiting Puerto Vallarta during September, you are in for not only a cultural but a culinary treat. September 16th marks Mexican Independence Day and part of the traditional celebrations is a very traditional Mexican dish called Chiles en Nogada.

Chiles en Nogada is popular at this time of year because the colors of the dish – red, white, and green – mimic the colors of the Mexican flag and the Poblano peppers are at its peak during this time. It is one of the country’s most iconic dishes and is said to have been created from a recipe made by 19th century Catholic nuns in San Andrés Calpan in the State of Puebla in Mexico.

So, what is Chiles en Nogada? It is a large roasted Poblano pepper (not found to be spicy to most tastes) stuffed with a mixture of minced meat, dried fruits, almonds, and spices. It is then covered in a rich and creamy, white walnut of Castile sauce, called Nogada, and sprinkled with juicy pomegranate seeds and garnished with parsley. It is as much a treat for the eyes and is it for the palate and is a must-try dish to add to your culinary adventures in Puerto Vallarta.

There are numerous restaurants in the Romantic Zone located within easy walking distance from your vacation rental which will be serving Chiles en Nogada this September. Ask your Pinnacle Resorts concierge for restaurant reservations or to-go/delivery options or try making this recipe in the fully equipped kitchen of your suite.

Sportfishing in Puerto Vallarta

Sportfishing in Puerto Vallarta

If you are planning to visit sunny Puerto Vallarta for a well-deserved vacation this summer and are an experienced fisherman or have always had an interest in trying the sport, there is no better time to be planning your trip to Banderas Bay!

Puerto Vallarta is a world-class sportfishing destination and July through November are the absolute best months of the fishing season. We asked the local fishing experts at Vallarta Sportsman about what fish are currently in season in Banderas Bay and what length of charter one should book to target each species during the summer fishing season in Puerto Vallarta.

6 to 8 Hour Charters

  • Football tuna
  • Sailfish
  • Dorado (also known as Mahi-Mahi)
  • Roosterfish

10 to 12 Hour Charters

  • Large tuna
  • Blue & black marlin, with striped marlin running September to November
  • Red snapper
  • Grouper

Although all Pinnacle Resorts properties are conveniently located in the heart of the Puerto Vallarta Romantic Zone, within an easy walk to the iconic Puerto Vallarta Pier, most charter boats depart from the Puerto Vallarta Marina, approximately 15 minutes by car. Most fishing charters come equipped with a bilingual captain and deckhand, all fishing equipment, live bait, ice, bottled water, and fishing permits included, and your crew can assist in filleting and packing your catch on ice or suggesting a restaurant in the marina that will cook your catch for you.

Fishing charters are a great way to get back out into fresh, open-air while allowing for all the safety protocols necessary as we welcome guests back to Puerto Vallarta. Talk to your Pinnacle Resorts Concierge for more details about booking a fishing charter during your stay.

DISCOVER THE ART & MARKET OF MARINA VALLARTA

By

Puerto Vallarta never ceases to amaze us. Even though we believe we have seen it all, we discover that there are always new things to do.

Maybe you have heard about the Artisan Market; if you walk along the Marina’s boardwalk on a Thursday evening, you will find the picturesque “Art & Market Marina Vallarta”. This small market opens from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and it is frequented not only by tourists but also by local customers and best of all, it is pet-friendly! So even your pet is guaranteed to have a good time.

Among its stalls, the market hides: culinary delights, artwork from local Vallarta artists, Huichol art, handmade clothing and jewelry, art exhibitions, sculptures and even live entertainment. It is an excellent option to support local entrepreneurs and buy unique souvenirs to take home.

We recommend you go hungry, since the gastronomic proposal is extensive, from vegan food to dishes made at the moment all made in an artisanal and organic way, always trying to be friendly to the environment, so we suggest you take your own bag.

After enjoying your walk along the Marina’s boardwalk, you can end your day with a glass of wine or a craft beer while adminring the sunset from one of the several restaurants in the area.

Getting to the “Art & Market Marina Vallarta” is very easy, ask your concierge in your rental condo at Pinnacle Resorts to request a taxi and you will arrive in a few minutes.

For additional information visit their Facebook page: https: ART & MARKET MARINA VALLARTA

Enjoy this traditional market as soon as possible, as it will only be open during the high season from October to May.

CHOOSING AN EVENT PHOTOGRAPHER IN PUERTO VALLARTA

By

Many of our guests stay in our luxury vacation rentals in the Puerto Vallarta Romantic Zone to celebrate a wedding, anniversary or other special event.  And while we can promise that your stay at Pinnacle Resorts will be memorable, you may want to consider hiring a photographer for your event or wedding in Puerto Vallarta. Having hosted many public and charity events, our Pinnacle Resorts team has some suggestions for choosing a photographer in Puerto Vallarta for your special occasion.

Request a full portfolio – don’t be taken in by just a handful of photographs from a website. A professional, experienced photographer should have an extensive portfolio showing many different types and styles of work.

Talk budget – have a clear idea of what you are willing to spend on photography in Puerto Vallarta and remember, that price can often reflect quality.

What’s your style – talk to your photographer about how you want your Puerto Vallarta wedding or event captured, be it traditional posed portraits or more spontaneous, casual images.

Personality – During your event, the photographer will interact with your guests and it is important that he or she is professional, serious and focused on capturing and creating amazing images.

Talk to our Pinnacle Resorts concierge staff for suggestions about photographers and other ways that we can make your special event or wedding in Puerto Vallarta even more memorable.
