  • Amenities:  unlike a vacation rental or smaller hotel, at Resorts by Pinnacle guests enjoy the luxury services they deserve like our Signature Lounge, Day Spa and fully equipped Signature Gym.

New Year’s Eve in Mexico comes with a lot of traditions and superstitions thought to get the New Year off to on the right foot.  Here are a few of the more unusual traditions that will be practiced in houses around Puerto Vallarta this December 31st.

Eat Some Grapes:  At midnight, eat 12 grapes, each representing the coming months of 2015.  A sweet grape means you’ll have a good month.  A sour grape means not so great.

Coin Toss:   Mexicans always believe in starting the New Year with a clean house and at midnight you should sweep out the dirt from your front door, throw 12 coins onto the ground and then sweep them back inside your house, to bring you wealth and prosperity for the coming year.

Change your Underwear:  To bring good things into 2015, on New Year’s Eve women wear red underwear for love, yellow for happiness and prosperity, green for good health, pink for friendship, and white for peace.

Look Out Below:  Mexicans typically toss a bucket of water out the window at midnight to bring a fresh start to 2013.

Get Your Bags:  To bring yourself travels and safe journeys, at midnight, take your empty suitcase and walk around your house or block.  Or if you’ve had a bit too much tequila, it also works to just pile the suitcases up in the center of the room and walk around them a few times.

Whatever your traditions or superstitions about New Year’s Eve, Resorts by Pinnacle wishes you health, wealth and happiness for 2015.  Happy New Year!

The best of New Year’s Eve celebrations are right at your doorstep with Resorts by Pinnacle’s prime location in heart of Puerto Vallarta.

The famous Puerto Vallarta Malecon will be alive with merry-makers during the last hours of 2014.  Food vendors, street performers, musicians and a great vantage point for the fireworks at midnight.

All of our favorite neighborhood restaurants including Maya, 116 Pulpito, Kaiser Maximillian, The Swedes and Fusion Gourmet, among many others, will be hosting New Year’s parties with special menus.

If you feel like dancing all night, hit the mega-clubs on the Malecon (we like Skybar at Mandala) or shimmy in the New Year dancing to a live salsa band at Bodeguita del Medio.

But there is no need to go out when you have the amazing private terrace views offered by all of our suites at Signature by Pinnacle.  Ever one of our Signature units will be an ideal viewing point for the fireworks.

Talk to your Resorts by Pinnacle concierge about these and other fun options for a fabulous New Year’s Eve in Puerto Vallarta.  And from the entire team at Resorts by Pinnacle, we wish you a very happy 2015.

Our Resorts by Pinnacle guests love that less than 100 meters from Signature by Pinnacle and Residences by Pinnacle are some of the best restaurants in Puerto Vallarta.  And today we’re reviewing one of our favorites, 116 Pulpito Gastro Lounge.

116 Pulpito is a sophisticated tapas bar located just a few steps away from Signature and Residences by Pinnacle.  The almost industrial feel to the small restaurant’s décor feels very urban and hip, and diners can choose from the cozy interior, the small bar or the terrace tables to enjoy their meal.

The menu features Spanish-inspired tapas that focus on fresh, region local ingredients and flavors.   Beautifully presented plates are meant to appeal to your appetite as well as your senses.  Perfect for sharing, some of our favorites are the amazing Papas Bravas, the shrimp sliders, the decadent cheese plate and their delicious oven-fired thin crust pizzas.

116 Pulpito also offers drink specials most nights of the week including 2×1 sangria and 2×1 margarita deals, and a standing 20 peso beer offer on Thursdays.  On Mondays, it is their popular Tapas Night offering an all you can eat tapas bar and live music.

With gorgeous sunsets over the Pacific Ocean, amazing restaurants, charming cobblestone streets and architecture, it’s hard to imagine a more romantic setting than Puerto Vallarta.  We asked members of our Resorts by Pinnacle team for some of their “Vallarta Best” favorites to help you spoil your sweetheart this Valentine’s Day.

Best Flowers:  This one goes out to Costco.  For less than $20 USD, you can buy two dozen roses in a variety of colors for your loved one.  And as an added bonus, they stay fresh longer than any other blooms in town.

Best Romantic Indoor Restaurant:  Trio serves up fine dining Mediterranean cuisine in a beautiful setting complete with a live guitarist to set the ambiance.

Best Romantic Outdoor Dining:  The garden terrace at Café des Artistes is only surpassed by the incredible culinary skills of renowned chef, Thierry Blouet.

Best Chocolates:  Anyone would swoon for the decadent hand-crafted chocolates from Xocodiva, located in the Romantic Zone.

Best Romantic Tour by Land:  Take a romantic riverside horseback tour for two through a beautiful ecological reserve at the base of the Sierra Madre with a stop at a waterfall with Rancho El Charro.

Best Romantic Tour by Sea:  Vallarta Adventures presents Rhythms of the Night, a boat charter to their own Las Caletas Beach, followed by dinner beside the sea and a Cirque de Soleil-style show in their jungle amphitheater.

Best Sunset View:  Our own Signature Lounge is the best place to start any romantic night, enjoying 2×1 drinks and a stunning view of the Puerto Vallarta sunset.

Warm summer days in Puerto Vallarta have everyone reaching for their sunscreen, but are you really doing everything you need to protect your skin from a painful sunburn?  We have some summer sunscreen tips to make sure that you enjoy your vacation in Puerto Vallarta without worry:

1)       Go through your sunscreen collection, toss old or expired bottles and buy new products.

2)      Look for a waterproof sunblock if you plan on being in the water or if you sweat a lot. It takes about 80 minutes for a waterproof sunblock to wash off, so using one will help ensure that you have protection from the sun even when you are swimming or working out outside.

3)      Find a sunblock that is labeled “broad spectrum,” which means that it protects from both the sun’s UVA and UVB rays. UVA rays cause wrinkling and aging of the skin, while UVB rays cause sunburn, but both UVA and UVB can cause skin cancer. It is best to be protected from both, however, sunblock that is not broad spectrum will only protect against UVB rays.

4)      Choose the sun protection factor (SPF) that works best for you.  The level of protection is primarily determined by SPF number. The higher the SPF the longer you will be protected from UVB rays before your skin becomes red and starts to burn. It is recommended that you choose a sunblock with an SPF of at least 30.
