Puerto Vallarta is without a doubt one of the most magical places to visit while planning your summer vacation. In our unbeatable Romantic Zone luxury accommodation, you’ll be staying in the heart of the city where you’ll get up-close and personal with the beautiful and unique culture of Old Town Puerto Vallarta.
We’ve decided to share 3 things with you that you probably didn’t know about our city, so that you know what to look out for and appreciate while you enjoy a spectacular beach vacation:
- Banderas Bay is recognized as one of the deepest bays in the world. It was formed by a volcano, and is believed to be so deep that no marine biology instruments have been able to identify its exact depth as of yet. The bay is also home to an incredible variety of flora and fauna, perfect for bird and whale watching!
- Playa Los Muertos (Dead Men’s Beach) is the most popular beach in the Romantic Zone, but what most people don’t know is how this beach came to be called Los Muertos. According to local legend, a long time ago some local miners got into a battle on the beach with some pirates…we’re sure you can piece the rest together from there. Despite a somewhat morbid folktale about its naming, this beach is the perfect spot to spend a day in the sun while enjoying delicious food and wonderful cocktails.
- Puerto Vallarta is a region where a unique kind of agave liquor is made – known as Raicilla. Often recognized as a “Mexican Moonshine”, Raicilla is the purest form of agave liquor available. Distilled from what is known as Agave Lechugilla, Raicilla dates back to the colonial era and is it thought to have begun production in a nearby town called San Sebastian del Oeste.
While basking in your luxury accommodation in Puerto Vallarta, take the time to learn a little mor about the history of this beautiful city. What you find might surprise you!
